Program Overview

The LDSPMA NextGen Creative Internships provide youth with leadership and professional development opportunities while empowering them to actively plan and run the NextGen program for Latter-day Saints in Publishing, Media & the Arts (LDSPMA).

Three interns will be selected annually to serve in leadership roles for a one-year term.

Internship Term

Dates: August 1, 2026 – July 31, 2027

Positions & Stipends

1. NextGen President

  • Stipend: $2,000 + complimentary attendance at the LDSPMA annual conference
  • Time Commitment: 5–8 hours/month

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate NextGen Zoom meetings (8-12 annually)
  • Plan and coordinate NextGen Zoom events (4–6 annually)
  • Identify and secure speakers or presenters
  • Lead outreach and marketing efforts
  • Facilitate engagement in the NextGen community (e.g., Facebook group)
  • Oversee NextGen initiatives and team coordination
  • Assist with LDSPMA annual conference

2. NextGen Vice-President

  • Stipend: $1,000 + complimentary attendance at the LDSPMA annual conference
  • Time Commitment: 3–5 hours/month

Responsibilities: 

  • Support planning and execution of Zoom meetings and events 
  • Assist with identifying and securing speakers or presenters
  • Assist with outreach and community engagement 
  • Collaborate closely with the President
  • Assume presidential duties if needed
  • Assist with LDSPMA annual conference

3. NextGen Secretary

  • Stipend: $1,000 + complimentary attendance at the LDSPMA annual conference
  • Time Commitment: 3–5 hours/month

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare meeting agendas and record notes 
  • Track attendance and participation 
  • Follow up on action items 
  • Support leadership team operations
  • Assist with outreach and community engagement 
  • Assist with LDSPMA annual conference

Program Expectations & Code of Conduct

All interns are expected to: 

  • Attend and actively participate in monthly Zoom meetings 
  • Contribute to planning and execution of 4–6 Zoom events annually
  • Maintain consistent communication with team members and adult NextGen Program Manager 
  • Submit brief monthly progress reports 
  • Represent LDSPMA in a positive and respectful manner
  • Maintain appropriate communication in all settings
  • Follow community guidelines and organizational policies
  • Complete a brief end-of-year report including recommendations for future teams

Supervision & Support

Interns will work under the guidance of the adult NextGen Program Manager, who will: 

  • Conduct onboarding session to explain roles and expectations, communication tools, branding guidelines, and safety expectations
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and oversight 
  • Approve major initiatives and communications 
  • Conduct regular check-ins
  • Answer questions and concerns in a timely manner

Stipend Structure

  • Stipends will be paid in monthly installments
  • The monthly time commitments are anticipated to average about the number of hours stated above. Should a participant assist more in one month (i.e. at the LDSPMA Conference), hours can be adjusted accordingly
  • Continued payment is contingent upon satisfactory performance
  • LDSPMA reserves the right to pause or discontinue stipends if Program Expectations and Code of Conduct requirements are not met 

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must: 

  • Be between the ages 11–24 as of August 1, 2026 
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally able to receive taxable income in the USA.
  • Demonstrate interest in publishing, media, or the arts and a commitment to LDSPMA’s standards
  • Additional Requirements for Minors: Parent/guardian consent required

Selection Criteria

Interns will be selected by the LDSPMA Board of Directors and adult NextGen Program Manager based on: 

  • Leadership potential and initiative
  • Creativity and alignment with LDSPMA’s mission
  • Quality of work samples
  • Strength of proposal 
  • References and interview performance

Required Materials:

  • Personal Statement & Bio
    • Brief introduction, interests, and relevant experience
  • Proposal
    • Outline your vision for the NextGen program
    • Include ideas for events, community engagement, and growth
  • Work Samples
    • Examples of creative or professional work (writing, art, media, etc.)
  • References
    • At least one reference (teacher, mentor, leader, etc.)
  • Interview
    • Selected applicants will participate in a phone and/or Zoom interview with LDSPMA Board Members and the adult NextGen Program Manager
