Propose a Deep-Dive Workshop for the 2026 LDSPMA Conference

Deep-Dive Workshops — Presenter Information

Thank you for your interest in presenting a Deep-Dive Workshop at the LDSPMA Annual Conference. Deep-Dive Workshops are immersive, hands-on learning experiences designed to help attendees actively apply what they are learning through guided practice, interaction, and focused work time.

This year, Deep-Dive Workshops have a new format with an increased emphasis on interactive, participatory sessions. These workshops are not lecture-based and should include meaningful opportunities for attendees to engage, practice, and create.

Deep-Dive Workshop proposals will be accepted through February 23, 2026.

Deep-Dive Workshop Schedule — Orem, Utah | Thursday, October 15, 2026

All Deep-Dive Workshops will take place in person on Thursday of the conference.

  • Morning Workshops: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
    (4-hour workshops)
  • Midday Keynote & Lunch:
All Deep-Dive attendees will have the option to attend a lunch with the keynote speaker, available to anyone who registers for one or more Deep-Dive Workshops.
  • Afternoon Workshops: 1:25 PM – 4:25 PM
    (3-hour workshops)

Workshop pricing has been adjusted this year to improve accessibility and increase attendance.

What We Are Looking For

Deep-Dive Workshops are immersive, interactive learning experiences designed to help participants actively apply what they are learning. These sessions should prioritize hands-on work, guided practice, discussion, and meaningful interaction over lecture-style teaching.

Proposals should align with one or more of the following industry tracks:

  • Fiction Writing
  • Nonfiction Writing
  • Editing & Design
  • Marketing
  • Business
  • Media
  • Visual Arts
  • Performing Arts
  • Musical Arts
  • General Interest

Workshops may address both foundational or advanced topics, but should be structured to allow participants to practice skills, create work, and engage meaningfully throughout the session.

What Makes a Strong Deep-Dive Workshop

High-quality Deep-Dive Workshops typically include:

  • Specific, expert, and actionable instruction
  • Clear, tangible takeaways participants will leave with
  • Substantial hands-on activities, working sessions, or guided exercises
  • Real-world examples drawn from your professional experience
  • Opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and application
  • Resources, worksheets, or tools that support active learning
  • Thoughtful tie-ins to principles and doctrines of the gospel of Jesus Christ, as appropriate

* Please note: Deep-Dive Workshops are not designed to promote products, services, or programs. Sessions should not include sales pitches, upsells, or promotional content, and should go beyond broad or surface-level topics that can easily be found through basic online searches.

Benefits of Leading a Deep-Dive Workshop

  • Presenters receive 50% of ticket sales for their workshop
  • Opportunity to sell books and other items through the conference bookstore

Recording Consideration (Optional)

Deep-Dive Workshops are not live-streamed. However, we are exploring the option to record select Deep-Dive Workshops for potential post-conference virtual offerings.

Recording would focus on the instructional portions of the workshop and would not include a live virtual audience.

Participation in recorded Deep-Dive Workshops is optional, and presenters may indicate their interest on the submission form if this opportunity is offered.

Workshop Proposal

We recommend typing your answers in a separate document and pasting them into this form, in case there is an issue when submitting the form.

This Deep-Dive Workshop Proposal Form will be open until February 23, 2026.

Name *
Please select “Yes” only if you were directly invited by an LDSPMA conference organizer or committee member. This helps us route your proposal appropriately. An invitation is not required to submit.
Have you attended an LDSPMA conference or Deep-Dive Workshop before?
Prior attendance is not required. Additional details and support will be provided to those who have not attended before.
Which workshop length do you prefer to present? (Please select one) *
Final workshop length assignments will be based on scheduling needs and overall program balance.
Would you be interested in having your Deep-Dive Workshop recorded and offered virtually? (This would not be live-streamed.)
Note: Presenters who participate in recorded Deep-Dive Workshops will receive 50% of virtual workshop ticket sales, in addition to in-person workshop sales.
Tip: Boring but descriptive (e.g., “Seven Key Cover Design Principles”) is better than clever but vague (e.g., “Crafting Classy Covers”). Titles should closely match the session content and may be revised for clarity or accuracy.
Select the category that best fits this session (for internal review purposes). *
Which label best fits this workshop? *
Tip: Narrow, specific topics are preferred over broad or vague ones.
Tip: Focus on concrete outcomes, completed work, skills practiced, or tools created during the workshop—not just what will be discussed (e.g., a revised chapter outline, a marketing plan draft, a portfolio piece, a checklist, or a practiced skill).
This workshop will include significant hands-on or interactive components. *
Tip: Describe the exercises, discussions, or working sessions participants will actively engage in during the workshop. Deep-Dive Workshops should include meaningful interaction and opportunities to apply what is being taught (e.g., live editing exercises, guided outlining, small-group critiques, worksheets, or working sessions).
Tip: List any prior knowledge attendees should have and any preparation or materials they should bring or complete in advance. This helps ensure the session can focus on the intended content without spending time on foundational explanations (e.g., familiarity with basic formatting tools or concepts; bring song lyrics or first page of your manuscript).
Tip: Lead with your primary qualifications for teaching this topic and write in the third person.
