LDSPMA’s Got (Secret) Talent!

Networking and Fundraising Dinner and Show

Thursday, October 16, 5:30–9:00 pm, at the UVU Sorensen Student Center

Hidden and Hilarious Talents

This won’t be your typical talent show!  Instead we will enjoy an evening of laughter, surprises, and unexpected skills as our community members take the stage to share their quirkiest talents.  Performers include:

  • Randall McGee & Groark: “Musical Ventriloquist with the World’s Only Guitar-Playing Dragon!”
  • Devan Jensen: “Magic Act: The Amazing Veggie-matic!” AND “Singing Parody of ‘You’ll be Back’ from Hamilton
  • Jeremy P. Madsen: “Editor Vs. AI: Who Will Win?”
  • Jackie Nuttall: “Tap Dancing: Celebrating Ageless Rhythm and Radiance”
  • TingChun Chang: “Formosan Romance: Group Dancing and Singing to ‘I Want Your Love’ in Mandarin”
  • Marian Scadden: “A Talking Mime! Boxed In, Blurted Out”
  • Brittany Passmore: “Brittany and the Beat-Boxing Flute”
  • Hinge Point: “Clogging: Hinge (Almost on) Point”

Free Gifts

To help make this evening fun, during the auction many free gifts will be given away to people in the audience, including restaurant gift certificates, food gift baskets, and subscriptions to Living Scriptures.

Live Auction

LDSPMA is a nonprofit organization that depends on volunteer contributions in time and money to operate.  Forty individuals and organizations have donated amazing items that will be auctioned either during the live auction or during a silent auction before and after the live auction. 100% of the auction proceeds go to LDSPMA.

There is such a diversity of great auction items—including one-of-a-kind opportunities—that we think every LDSPMA member will find some items you would value.  And the auction will be an entertaining way for you to support LDSPMA.

Here is the silent auction page, which is now live.  And check out items in this advance peek at the October 16 live auction.  Here are a few highlights of the live auction:

  • BYU Football Tickets
    • Generously donated by BYU Athletics, these 2 tickets to BYU vs. TCU on November 13 offer great lower-bowl views of a revved-up game that will make history.
  • Personalized Tour (for up to 4 People) of the Filming Set for The Chosen and 7 Chosen-Themed Gifts
    • Tour of your choice of either the Goshen or Texas set.  Chosen-themed gifts include calendar, clothing, blanket, tumbler, and Christmas ornaments.
  • Hoovers River Resort Vacation
    • Looking for a restful getaway with family or friends next summer? Enjoy 3 nights for up to 6 people in a 2-bedroom cabin, dinner, rafting, tubing, and many other fun outdoor activities at Hoovers River Resort two hours south of Utah County and near several national and state parks.
  • One-Year Family Pass to Thanksgiving Point
    • Discover endless family adventures, from dinosaurs to gardens, farm animals to interactive museums—a year of memorable experiences!
  • Florida Lake House Writers’ Retreat
    • Gather your writing group for a productive week with support from the host, author and therapist JeaNette Goates Smith. Write, rest, and revise at a private lake house near Gainesville, Florida. Take breaks by paddling on the lake using the 3 kayaks and canoe provided, or simply enjoy the view from your cozy writing nook.
  • One-on-One with Lisa Mangum
    • 1-hour Zoom call with Shadow Mountain’s managing editor Lisa Mangum.  Talk about whatever you like concerning your project (brainstorming, plot problems, et.) or about the publishing industry (query letters, marketing ideas, etc.)

Tickets are $15/person and include dinner and the talent show. You can purchase tickets by themselves or bundled with your main conference registration.
