Bio: Sheri Dew, the longtime CEO of Deseret Book Company, is currently chief content officer of Deseret Management Corporation. She served as a member of the general presidency of the Relief Society from 1997 to 2002. Sheri is the author of many bestselling books, including the biographies of Ezra Taft Benson and Gordon B. Hinckley, Women and the Priesthood, Worth the Wrestle, Amazed by Grace, Insights from the Prophet’s Life: Russell M. Nelson, and her most recent book, Prophets See Around Corners.

Healing the Divide: How Art Fosters Kindness in a Contentious World

J. Scott Savage will share stories of how writing books has gotten him and others through hard times. Art engenders introspection and self-assessment in both the creator and the consumer, resonates within us all to create emotional connections, and creates empathy and understanding through diversity and representation. He will unpack how art breaks down barriers between people and ideas and how storytelling is more effective than debate in changing hearts and minds.
Bio: J. Scott Savage is the award-winning author of 23 published novels, including his latest series, The Quantum Interstellar Sports League from Penguin Workshop, with book 2, Soccer Space-tastrophe, coming out October 2025. Scott has written books for both adults and children across several genres, including fantasy, steampunk, horror, and mystery. His awards include a Whitney Award, an LDSPMA Praiseworthy Award, and a Foreword Bronze Medal for Juvenile Fiction. Scott has taught and presented at writing conferences for adults and youth. He has presented at more than 4,000 schools and libraries nationwide, inspiring students to read, write, embrace creativity, and change the world. Scott lives in Utah with his wife of 38 years, Jennifer. He is currently the executive vice president of sales and marketing at Cedar Fort Publishing.

To Each a Gift: Stewarding Our Gifts within the Larger “Body of Christ”

Each of us is a bearer of unique gifts, desiring to share our gifts and leave a legacy. For creators, this process is joyful and burdensome. How do we respond when our offering doesn’t result in acceptance by others? Is there room for my gifts when others have gifts that seem greater than my own? What role do Latter-day Saints play within the larger body of Christ? How can we consecrate our work in a consumer world? Brad will share his story and wrestle with these questions on the journey that brought him to his work on The Chosen.
Bio: Brad Pelo has served since 2020 as executive producer of The Chosen television series, which has over 280 million viewers. Brad has also served since 2022 as president of 5&2 Studios—the media production company overseeing the production of The Chosen as well as a lineup of future film and television projects set in the biblical world, including projects in partnership with Amazon/MGM Studios that are based on Joseph, Moses, and the Book of Acts. A serial entrepreneur, business leader, and film producer, Brad has spent most of his career at the intersection of faith, technology, and media. He co-founded Folio Corporation, co-founded Ancestry.com, and served as CEO of its parent company, Western Standard Publishing, served as president and publisher of Bookcraft before its purchase by Deseret Management Company, and co-founded i.TV, where he was CEO before his leadership at The Chosen. Brad is married to Melody Allen, and they have 12 children. Brad has twice served as a bishop and a member of the presidency of the Manhattan, NY, YSA Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Harry and Debra Bonner will share perspectives and life-altering experiences that enabled them to inspire, encourage, and empower their children as well as others to reach for the stars. They will speak about how their faith in Jesus Christ, the fullness of the gospel, and their love and care for each other boosted them to immeasurable personal and familial success. They will describe their spiritual and musical foundation for the Bonner Family, their life as Baptist missionaries in Liberia, West Africa, their conversion story to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, how they supported family members through the priesthood, and two birthday wishes that changed the trajectory of the family.
Bio: Harry Bonner and Debra Bonner are the patriarch and matriarch of the Bonner Family, a leading Christian performing group since 2016. Debra is the author of Your True Voice: A Superior Vocal Training Program. Debra is the founder and Harry the co-founder of Unity Gospel Choir International and The Transformational Youth Choir, both 501(c)(3) organizations. In 2024 and 2025, Debra was called as choir director and Harry as the spiritual advisor for the University of Utah and Utah Valley University Institute choirs to teach gospel music. Debra has sung as a soloist on four continents and as a guest soloist for the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.

Who's in Creative Control Here? Navigating the Editor-Writer Relationship

Editors are the bridge between writer and reader. It is difficult to determine the line between responsible editing and commandeering creative control. In this course, we'll cover communication techniques to articulate your vision for improving a project while respecting the integrity of the manuscript and creative control of the writer. We will talk about how to work together with the author to arrive at the best possible version for the reader in the final publication.
Bio: Holly Kolb is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of Merry Robin Publishing. She has an MA in English from BYU and an MSc from the University of Edinburgh in Book History and Material Culture. Bio: KaTrina Jackson loves penguins, piano music, and chocolate and spends each day trying to juggle those around her jobs as a freelance editor and as project manager for Eschler Editing. She graduated with a degree in editing and publishing because she couldn’t get enough stories in her life. CJ has composed an opera, an oratorio, and 800 other compositions. He has also put together a stake conference choir that had 80 singers—an almost equally incredible feat. He and his amazing wife Samm have five children.

Bio: Warner Woodworth is the author of 12 books and 370 publications on Mormonism, empowerment, and ways to build better societies. Through his observations and writing on human suffering, with his collaborators he has raised $1.7 billion and established 41 NGOs in 62 nations. Warner is now a recognized global change agent. He has a PhD from the University of Michigan and spent years teaching as a BYU MBA professor while laboring in 109 nations to empower the poor, particularly women. Writing can be powerful!

Bio: Nick Peterson started his career in the CPA industry in 2003. He opened NP Accounting Services in 2006 and later became a financial advisor holding securities licenses. He worked closely with the CPA Plus Network and oversaw tax and advisory professionals across the country. Nick has worked closely with public and private investment markets over the years and currently is president of Peterson Harris Inc.

This class teaches ways to find and use visual art based on the Book of Mormon and Church history. You’ll be introduced to new public digital databases of Latter-day Saint art, podcasts that analyze the art and relate them to scripture, and scholarship on Latter-day Saint art. Learn how you can locate diverse, global Book of Mormon art and use it in your own projects.
Bio: Jennifer Champoux is the director of the Book of Mormon Art Catalog and host of the podcasts "Latter-day Saint Art" and "Behold: Conversations on Book of Mormon Art." She authored C. C. A. Christensen: A Mormon Visionary (forthcoming) and co-edited Approaching the Tree: Interpreting 1 Nephi 8. Her scholarship on religious art also appears in BYU Studies and Religious Educator. She taught art history as adjunct faculty at several colleges.

Barry currently serves as an executive leadership coach in BYU’s Sorensen Center for Moral and Ethical Leadership.

Fast Pitch
Pitch your book project to agents and publishing company representatives, receive immediate feedback, and possibly have them ask for a copy of your book proposal and/or manuscript.
Each pitch appointment will cost $30. Sign-ups will open in the months leading up to the in-person conference. We will email all registrants when sign-ups open.

Meet many conference speakers as well as other authors and artists participating in the conference; view their books, audios, videos, and other works; purchase any you are interested in; and get them signed by the authors and artists.

Publishers’ Summit (by invitation only)

The LDSPMA Publishers’ Summit is a forum where Latter-day Saint publishing professionals (and other professionals of faith who wish to attend) can meet to discuss industry developments, challenges, and opportunities. Our 2025 summit is co-organized by Chris Schoebinger (publisher of Shadow Mountain Publishing) and Kiri Jorgensen (publisher and senior editor of Chicken Scratch Books).
The lunchtime keynote speaker for the summit will be Sharon Eubank, director of Latter-day Saint Charities. (Those who register for both a morning and an afternoon Thursday deep-dive workshop will be invited to the lunch and lunchtime keynote.)
